Anthurium "Red Gunsal" — Red-Emergent Velvet Hybrid Seedling (Exact Plant)
Ships from Florida via 1–2 day express service. Live arrival guarantee on express shipments — see shipping details. You receive the exact plant pictured.
Anthurium ‘Red Gunsal’ is an Indonesian collector Anthurium prized for its dramatic emergent foliage, which can open in rich red to burgundy tones before gradually hardening to deep green. Mature plants develop broad, substantial leaves with a velvety appearance and strong collector appeal.
The cultivar is associated with Indonesian Anthurium breeding and is generally attributed to West Java, although the exact parentage of the original ‘Red Gunsal’ has not been reliably documented. Because of that, we prefer not to repeat speculative pedigrees as fact.
This offering is a juvenile seedling, and mature characteristics—including leaf shape, colour intensity, venation, and final size—will continue to develop as the plant grows.
Growth habit: Terrestrial/hemiepiphytic aroid
Light: Bright, indirect light
Humidity: Moderate to high humidity preferred
Substrate: Airy, moisture-retentive aroid mix with excellent drainage
Water: Allow the substrate to approach lightly moist between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation
You will receive the individual plant shown in the listing photographs unless otherwise stated.
Specialist care (sourced). “Red Gunsal” is an Indonesian velvet-leaf hybrid line with scarlet-red emergents hardening to dark velvet green; the exact parentage is undocumented, so I don’t repeat speculative pedigrees. Grow on the velvet-anthurium recipe: bright indirect light, 18–27°C, 60–80%+ humidity, airy chunky mix kept lightly moist. Habitat-derived (INFERRED): Indonesian lowland-to-mid-elevation ancestry implies a warmth-loving, humidity-demanding grower — keep it warm and don’t let it dry out fully.
