My love of tropical plants began long before MonsteraEtc. I come from three generations of Florida nursery growers, and some of my earliest memories of plants come from my grandparents’ nursery in Estero, Florida, in the 1970s and ’80s. The lush, jungle-like world they created there sparked a fascination with tropical plants that never really left me.

MonsteraEtc is a continuation of that history—focused on the rare, unusual, and botanically interesting plants that still give me that same sense of discovery. Today, I seek out exceptional species, distinctive forms, unusual genetics, and plants with a story worth knowing, then grow and share them with collectors who appreciate what makes them extraordinary.

Now that journey is beginning to come full circle. I’m entering a new chapter of traveling to the places these plants originate, seeing them in their native habitats, learning from the people and ecosystems that surround them, and finding responsible ways to participate in the modern movement toward plant conservation and preservation. For me, collecting has never been simply about owning rare plants—it is about understanding them, growing them well, and helping ensure that remarkable plants remain part of our world for generations to come.
