Shipping Policy
Effective August 2026
MonsteraEtc ships live plants and other merchandise from Florida, USA. Considerable care is taken in preparing and packing each shipment. Because plants are living and perishable, however, shipping necessarily involves risks that do not exist with ordinary merchandise.
Customers should select a shipping method appropriate for the value, sensitivity, destination, and weather conditions associated with their purchase.
This Shipping Policy should be read together with the MonsteraEtc Returns, Refunds, Shipping & Live Arrival Policy.
Shipping Options & Live Arrival Eligibility
Multiple carrier services may be offered at checkout depending upon the destination, package, and services currently available from the carrier.
A limited MonsteraEtc Live Arrival Guarantee is available only when the purchaser selects an eligible one- or two-business-day shipping service.
Eligible services generally include:
-
UPS Next Day Air;
-
UPS Next Day Air Saver; and
-
UPS 2nd Day Air.
USPS Priority Mail, UPS 3 Day Select, Ground services, and other shipping methods expected to require more than two business days are not covered by the MonsteraEtc Live Arrival Guarantee.
Customers remain free to select these economical shipping methods when offered, but do so with the understanding that they accept the additional transit risk associated with shipping a living plant for more than two business days.
Eligibility is determined by the shipping service purchased at checkout, not by the date on which the carrier ultimately delivers the package.
Carrier delivery dates and transit estimates displayed at checkout are provided by the carrier and should not be interpreted as a guarantee by MonsteraEtc.
Processing & Shipping Schedule
Orders require time to be inspected, prepared, and carefully packed before shipment.
Live plants may be held temporarily when reasonably necessary to avoid weekends, holidays, severe weather, known carrier disruptions, or other circumstances likely to expose the shipment to unnecessary risk.
MonsteraEtc reserves the right to determine the appropriate shipping day for live plants.
A safety-related shipping hold initiated by MonsteraEtc does not constitute failure to fulfill an order.
Tracking information will be provided when available. Customers are responsible for monitoring tracking and arranging for immediate retrieval upon delivery.
Shipping Charges
Shipping charges are calculated using the shipping service, destination, package dimensions, shipment weight, and other applicable carrier factors.
Because live plants vary considerably in size and packaging requirements, actual package dimensions and weights may differ between orders.
Shipping charges generally reflect transportation and may also account for packaging or handling when applicable.
Charges for expedited shipping, weather protection, insurance, or other shipping-related services that have already been provided are ordinarily nonrefundable except when required by law or when reimbursement is necessary to correct a MonsteraEtc fulfillment error.
Shipping Insurance
Shipping insurance or third-party package protection may be available and is strongly recommended for rare, expensive, or irreplaceable plants.
Shipping insurance and the MonsteraEtc Live Arrival Guarantee are separate protections.
The MonsteraEtc Live Arrival Guarantee concerns qualifying plants shipped using an eligible expedited service and is subject to the conditions stated in the Returns, Refunds, Shipping & Live Arrival Policy.
Carrier or third-party shipping insurance may cover certain transportation events that the MonsteraEtc Live Arrival Guarantee specifically excludes, such as qualifying carrier loss or damage.
Insurance coverage, exclusions, documentation requirements, and reimbursement decisions are determined by the applicable carrier or insurance provider.
When reasonably possible, MonsteraEtc will provide documentation necessary to support a legitimate carrier or insurance claim. Assistance with such a claim does not constitute acceptance of liability by MonsteraEtc.
Carrier Delay, Misrouting, Loss & Mishandling
Once a shipment has been accepted into a carrier's network, MonsteraEtc does not control the carrier's transportation, routing, sorting, handling, or delivery operations.
Accordingly, the MonsteraEtc Live Arrival Guarantee does not cover loss or damage attributable to circumstances outside MonsteraEtc's reasonable control, including:
-
carrier delays;
-
carrier mishandling;
-
misrouting or sorting errors;
-
lost packages;
-
transportation interruptions;
-
customer-requested delivery changes;
-
carrier holds or intercepts; or
-
other carrier-related events outside MonsteraEtc's reasonable control.
Selection of UPS Next Day Air, UPS Next Day Air Saver, UPS 2nd Day Air, or another expedited service does not make MonsteraEtc the insurer or guarantor of the carrier's performance.
Carrier or third-party shipping insurance may provide protection for some of these events.
Weather & Temperature
MonsteraEtc ships from Florida, and weather conditions at the destination and along the transportation route may differ substantially from conditions at origin.
Customers are responsible for reviewing destination weather before shipment.
When available, heat packs, cold protection, insulation, or other weather-protection options may be offered for purchase. Customers are responsible for selecting protection appropriate for their destination.
No heat pack, cold pack, insulation, or other packaging method can guarantee the survival of a tropical plant exposed to extreme temperatures.
MonsteraEtc may delay shipment when foreseeable weather conditions create an unreasonable risk to the plant.
If a customer specifically requests shipment despite a MonsteraEtc recommendation to delay because of weather or another foreseeable shipping hazard, the customer accepts the additional risk associated with that decision.
Weather-related injury is not covered by the MonsteraEtc Live Arrival Guarantee.
Delivery & Prompt Retrieval
Live plants should be retrieved immediately following delivery.
For purposes of MonsteraEtc shipping and arrival policies, delivery occurs when the carrier records the package as delivered at the address supplied with the order.
This includes delivery to locations such as:
-
a front porch or other location at the residence;
-
a mailbox;
-
a parcel locker;
-
an apartment or condominium package room;
-
a leasing or management office;
-
a reception or front desk;
-
a mailroom; or
-
another location designated to receive packages at the delivery address.
Customers are responsible for monitoring tracking information and arranging for prompt retrieval.
MonsteraEtc is not responsible for theft, disappearance, or environmental exposure occurring after carrier-confirmed delivery.
Damage resulting from a package remaining outdoors, in direct sunlight, in freezing or excessive heat, inside a mailbox, parcel locker, vehicle, package room, or another uncontrolled environment after delivery is not covered by the Live Arrival Guarantee.
Address Accuracy
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout.
Please contact MonsteraEtc immediately if an address error is discovered before shipment.
Once a package has entered the carrier network, MonsteraEtc cannot guarantee that it can be redirected, intercepted, recovered, or rerouted.
MonsteraEtc is not responsible for delay, loss, misdelivery, or plant damage resulting from:
-
an incorrect or incomplete address supplied with the order;
-
customer-requested forwarding;
-
an address change after shipment;
-
refusal of delivery;
-
failure to accept delivery; or
-
other customer-initiated changes to the original shipment.
Additional transportation charges resulting from an address problem, failed delivery, return-to-sender shipment, reshipment, forwarding, or interception may be the purchaser's responsibility.
Reporting an Arrival Problem
A claim concerning the condition of a plant upon arrival must be reported to monsteraetc@gmail.com within two (2) hours of the carrier-recorded delivery time.
The initial report must include clear photographs showing:
-
the exterior shipping box, including any visible damage;
-
the shipping label;
-
the internal packaging as received;
-
the entire plant immediately after unpacking; and
-
close-up photographs of the condition or damage forming the basis of the claim.
Please retain the plant or item, shipping box, shipping label, and all original packaging until the matter has been resolved.
Additional photographs or documentation may reasonably be required.
Failure to report an arrival-condition claim within the required period or failure to provide reasonably requested documentation may prevent MonsteraEtc from determining the condition of the plant at delivery and may make the claim ineligible for the Live Arrival Guarantee.
Preserve the Plant and Packaging During a Claim
Once an arrival-condition problem has been reported, please do not discard or materially alter the plant or packaging until MonsteraEtc has had a reasonable opportunity to evaluate the claim.
Unless immediately necessary to prevent additional loss, do not repot, propagate, divide, cut, chemically treat, or otherwise materially alter a plant subject to an arrival claim until MonsteraEtc has responded or provided instructions.
Carrier or insurance claims may additionally require photographs, original packaging, proof of value, inspection, or return of damaged merchandise.
Normal Shipping Stress
Shipping a living plant necessarily involves some physical and environmental stress.
Temporary wilting, minor leaf tears or creases, bent foliage, loss or yellowing of an older leaf, minor cosmetic discoloration, displaced substrate, aerial-root damage, or similar minor effects of transportation do not constitute shipping failure when they do not materially threaten the health or viability of the plant.
The Live Arrival Guarantee concerns significant problems affecting the plant's health or viability at the time of delivery, subject to the complete terms of the Returns, Refunds, Shipping & Live Arrival Policy.
Bare-Root & Sphagnum Shipping
Plants may be shipped bare-root, semi-bare-root, in sphagnum, or in another appropriate shipping medium when MonsteraEtc determines that doing so is appropriate for the specimen or will reduce shipping weight or protect the plant during transportation.
The shipping method or medium may differ from the way the plant is grown or photographed.
Decorative pots, cachepots, display containers, stakes, moss poles, and other accessories pictured with plants are not included unless expressly stated in the product listing.
Returned or Undeliverable Packages
If a shipment is returned to MonsteraEtc because of an incorrect or incomplete customer-provided address, refusal, failure to accept delivery, unsuccessful delivery attempts, forwarding problem, or another circumstance attributable to the recipient, the purchaser may be responsible for all additional shipping costs.
Live plants returned through a carrier network may no longer be viable by the time they reach MonsteraEtc.
Return of an undeliverable live-plant shipment therefore does not automatically entitle the purchaser to a refund, replacement, or credit.
Any discretionary remedy will depend upon the circumstances and condition of the returned plant.
International Shipping
Unless a listing or checkout option expressly states otherwise, MonsteraEtc currently ships only within the United States.
Customers are responsible for any restrictions applicable to receiving plants in their particular state, territory, or jurisdiction.
Questions Before Shipping
Customers purchasing particularly rare, sensitive, or high-value specimens are encouraged to contact monsteraetc@gmail.com before shipment with questions concerning weather, shipping speed, insurance, or packaging.
Once a living plant enters the carrier network, many transportation risks are outside MonsteraEtc's control. Addressing foreseeable concerns before shipment is therefore strongly preferred.
