Anthurium clarinervium is the beloved Mexican velvet species — thick, leathery, heart-shaped leaves with bold silver-white venation. This seedling comes from the collection of Barry Schwartz, a longtime Florida aroid collector and friend, and a noted breeder of complex Anthurium hybrids.

Specialist care (sourced). Bright indirect light — low light dulls the vein contrast, direct sun burns; 21–27°C, minimum ~14–15°C (Wikipedia, summarizing cultivation references); humidity 50%+ tolerated, 75–85% optimal; water moderately, letting the top few cm dry — very rot-prone in dense or clay-heavy mixes, so an aerated loose mix is essential; pH 5.5–6.8; modest fertilization. Its thick coriaceous leaves make it somewhat more forgiving of lower humidity than thinner-leaved velvet species (grow urban.; Secret Garden). Habitat-derived (INFERRED): endemic to Chiapas, Mexico, discovered in a karstic limestone rainforest at 760–1,160 m, growing on limestone ledges as a shaded epiphyte — the limestone habitat suggests tolerance of slightly higher pH/mineral content than peat-grown anthuriums, drainage is imperative given the ledge habit, and the intermediate elevation plus seasonal Mexican forest explains its reputation as the most forgiving of the velvet group: it tolerates slightly cooler, drier air than its lowland cousins.
