Monstera Obliqua “El Coca”

You will receive a cutting, lightly-to-deeply rooted in sphagnum moss, depending on harvest date. Rooted plants are sold first to allow rooting of later cuts.

Runners are quite common in Obliqua species. They are the way the plant finds its best growing conditions. They prefer to climb and thrive in bright, indirect light with a loose soil sub-straight that allows heavy watering, but does not allow water to sit.

As the plant matures, you should expect the leaves to get larger and become more and more fenestrated. This species is not officially named in Science yet. It’s current name reflects the original area in which it was collected. The official name for this plant may change in the future or re-identified. It is currently considered a “NoID” (“No Identification”).

There may be mechanical damage, insect damage, or discoloration on your sacrificial leaf. New leaves emerge from the activated node. Sacrificial leaves may yellow, whither, wilt, or die in transit if the weather is above 80 degrees F. This is NORMAL FOR MONSTERA. The node WILL STILL REGROW….just as I have had to regrow them after import. Please understand this prior to purchase.
