As the plant matures, the leaves become increasingly divided, developing a graceful pinnatifid form and sometimes small perforations near the midrib.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn its natural habitat, \u003cem\u003eM. gracilis\u003c\/em\u003e grows as a climbing hemiepiphytic aroid in wet tropical forest. Interestingly, botanical observations suggest that it is not necessarily a high climber; plants have been observed climbing for a relatively short distance before producing stolon-like growth that returns toward the forest floor.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is an excellent species for the collector interested in \u003cstrong\u003etrue botanical Monsteras beyond the commonly cultivated varieties\u003c\/strong\u003e.
